Llywernog Silver-Lead mine is now 'twinned' with Poldark Mine in Cornwall.
Poldark is one of Cornwall’s most important heritage sites. Tin was mined there in the 18th century, and there is even evidence of working for alluvial tin in prehistoric times. Today, there are a range of activities at Poldark Mine in addition to guided tours of the heritage site.
The twinning of Llywernog Silver-Lead Mine with Poldark Mine is symbolic of the mining links between Cornwall and Mid Wales, in the 19th Century. More information about this can be found here on the Poldark Mine web site.
